blue blood excerpt (1984)
“I’m scared, Selma. This isn’t what I was prepared for.”
“Marriage?”
Sahrav shook his head. “You know what I mean. All… this. I was prepared for marriage and everything, on my own island. I was supposed to be the Usa’i.”
“You didn’t want to be the Usa’i.”
“I didn’t! I don’t!” Sahrav exhaled and rubbed his face, his voice shaking. “My whole life has been planned since I was born, and I’ve always known exactly what to expect. Now there’s just all this… this uncertainty and change, and it makes me feel… I don’t know. Lost, I guess.”
“You can get through this.”
“I don’t want to! I want things to stay the same.”
Selma put her arm around him. “I know. But that’s what life is, Sahrav. A constant flow of unpredictable change. We can’t control everything, and I know that’s what makes you anxious, but you need to try and focus on the things you can change.”
“Such as? Everything I do is determined by what other people expect of me. And even that isn’t consistent.” Tears welled up in his eyes and he pushed his balled-up fists into them, trying to hide it. “I don’t know who I’m supposed to be anymore.”
“Be yourself.”
“Myself isn’t good enough.”

Blue Blood Excerpt (1984)
Later that day, Mahrias was skipping around halls in a glorious mood. It felt like the sun was shining on him for the very first time and he was basking in the light.
As he entered one of the halls, he saw Sahrav sat on one of the thick windowsills, his head leaning out of the window.
He knew that he shouldn’t, but Mahrias couldn’t resist gloating to his brother. He’d earned the right after watching him be the wanted one for so many years.
“How do you feel now that I’m the heir?” He said, sitting beside him and smirking.
Sahrav said nothing, continuing to gaze out of the window.
Mahrias felt a spike of anger at being ignored and he couldn’t help muttering. “You really are just like Father.”
This got a response – Sahrav’s head whipped around to glare at him. “I am not like Father.”
“I would have thought that would be a compliment for you.”
“I know you dislike me, Mahrias, but do you really think that little of me?”
Mahrias sighed. “You’re the perfect one. How could anyone think little of you?”
“I am far from perfect.”
“Father seems to believe so.”
“Well,” said Sahrav, turning to look back out of the window, “Father is not always right. You know that better than I do.”
This was probably the longest conversation they’d had in a long time. Despite it not being a pleasant one, Mahrias almost didn’t want it to be over. Yet he couldn’t think of anything else to say.
Their childhood together seemed like a lifetime ago. There were four years between them, so Sahrav had always been seen as an authority to Mahrias. It hadn’t stopped them from having fun though, despite how much of a killjoy his older brother could often be. He had fond memories of the two of them playing in the snow, near the large pond at the far end of the castle grounds where they would skate together.
The more years added to Sahrav’s age, the more responsibility and training had been bestowed upon him. Once Sahrav had ended his Pavasun, things had truly changed. These days they only saw each other at meals and even then they never spoke. Mahrias had no idea if Sahrav really was like their father. He didn’t know what kind of man he was at all. He hoped that the same wouldn’t happen to him and Viter.
“Do you need anything else?” Sahrav asked.
Mahrias hesitated a moment before shaking his head. There was no need for him to mend the bond between himself and his older brother. He would be gone soon.
As he made his way towards his room, he tried to shake away the unease that had settled within. Something about interacting with Sahrav always made him feel as though something inside him had come loose. He wanted to speak with him, but at the same time the mere sight of his face was enough to irritate him.
Not for the first time, he wished that things could be different.
#ahhh it always makes me sad when these two interact#they both so desperately want to be close but theres just too much distance between them#wip: blue blood#wip: bb2#oc: sahrav kontemno#oc: mahrias kontemno

Happy WBW! As always, I wanna know more your characters!
Walk us through a typical day in the life of the character(s) of your choice. Do they have a routine, or is each day eventful and wildly unpredictable?
I'm answering this SO late, I'm sorry!!
-
All three Kontemno brothers follow a very strict schedule for most of the day, though Mahrias's and Viter's are slightly more lenient.
They spend the majority of the day in various lessons. Like all gishars they are privately tutored at their home. The three of them are mostly taught by Lija, though their extra carriculars are taught by other people.
Sahrav receives extra training from his father in preparation for taking over the throne, and he does his power development with him too. Mahrias takes various fighting lessons, taught by the guards, as well as developing his powers with his mother.
After an extremely awkward dinner with the family, they are finally free to do as they please. Mahrias and Viter usually spend the rest of the evening together, either playing games or causing mischief somewhere in the castle. And Sahrav is most likely hiding away in the library lol
Thank you for the ask!

Find the Phrase/Vibe
created by @saphoblin here
no pressure tag for @sarahlizziewrites @toribookworm22 @justnerdy15 to find the phrase "we can fix this"
[Note: If you do not have that phrase either find something close to it, or something that shares similar energy]
i was tagged by @kaiusvnoir and my phrase was "Are you okay?"

It was harder to get to the secret roof area these days. The snow was falling thicker and heavier, sticking to the slate and making it extra slippery. By the time he reached safety, Mahrias’s heart was pounding with the adrenaline of having almost fallen twice.
Thankfully, his suspicions had been correct. Sahrav had clearly been here for a while, the snow settling around him and creating a white shroud that covered his hunched body.
He was staring at the darkening sky, his eyes dry but ringed with red, and his cheeks were chapped and sore.
“How are you feeling, Ravi?”
Sahrav shrugged his shoulders but Mahrias could tell that he was still in pain. He didn’t know his brother well, but he knew enough. He sat down beside him, saying nothing further. Instead, he just offered silent comfort, pressing his shoulder against Sahrav’s.

Happy WBW! Today’s question might be kinda soft and feelsy 💕
What are your characters like when they’re sick and/or injured? Do they rely on their caretakers, or do they deny it and power through while trying to convince everyone else that they’re fine? Is there a certain kind of food that makes them feel better, do they have an easier or harder time resting? Whatever applies!
Happy WBW! Thanks for the ask!
I'll answer for the Kontemno brothers, since I don't focus on them as much as I should XD
-
Sahrav
He likes to be left alone anyway, and is no different when he's sick or injured. As long as he has a steady supply of books, he's happy. The only person he can really tolerate for long periods of time is Selma so she's usually the one who looks after him.
He actually likes getting ill and will exaggerate his symptoms, because it means that he gets a break from heir related duties. Rujav tries to let him rest but checks on him a lot, waiting for a sign that he's getting better so he can continue with their lessons.
-
Mahrias
Mahrias craves comfort all the time, even more so when he's sick or injured. He feels very sorry for himself and likes lots of cuddles and attention. Sadly his parents are not the most... affectionate. BUT Viter is always very happy to care for his older brother, as he does the same for him.
If he's able to eat then bringing him his favourite donut balls is a good choice.
-
Viter
Viter is chronically ill, due to an undiagnosed condition. He has periods of time where he is bed-ridden with fevers and nausea, and his immune system is very weak.
He's also pretty much constantly in pain, but he's adapted to deal with it for the most part. Sometimes it gets worse and then he's forced to take a rest until he recovers.
Mahrias is his main carer in these times and always has been, ever since they were very young. Every time, he will move into Viter's room and stay with him the whole time, bringing him food, reading him stories, and anything else that he needs.

blue blood excerpt (1984)
As usual, the food was good, and the news was grim.
“Mahti’s dead.”
The way Rujav announced it was almost casual, some passing gossip he’d heard.
Evah, at least, had the grace to fake some sympathy. “That’s sad to hear. How are the Kaeels faring?”
“They’re upset, of course. But they were prepared for this.” He wiped his mouth with the edge of a napkin. “They knew it was coming for a while.”
Mahrias didn’t really want to talk about death at the dinner table. He glanced over at Sahrav, hoping that he’d interrupt.
His brother had his elbow on the table, resting his head in his hand, as he poked at his food with his fork. He stared at the plate, but he wasn’t seeing what was in front of him, his mind elsewhere.
Typical. Just when Mahrias needed him too.
“I’m assuming that means they won’t be up for Davahaj this year.”
Mahrias had no idea what they were referring to, but he noticed Sahrav’s head snap up and pay attention for the first time.
“I’m not sure,” admitted Rujav, “I will enquire closer to the time. It seems a little insensitive to bring it up at the moment, don’t you think?”
Evah said nothing, taking a large sip of her wine.

blue blood 01 excerpt
Mahrias and Viter ran down the halls, whooping as they skipped and jumped across the tiles. Some of the guards gave them odd looks but they didn’t even notice, too busy revelling in their excitement.
They skid to a stop as they were approached by Sahrav, who was wringing his hands together and chewing on his lip.
“Oh, great,” grumbled Mahrias, “Are you here to tell us to stop?”
To his surprise, Sahrav shook his head. “Actually, I- um… I was wondering if you two wanted to… uh… I don’t know. Do something?”
“With you?” said Mahrias, at the same time Viter shouted, “Yes!”
“I mean, you don’t have to if you don’t want to,” Sahrav replied, looking at the floor. “I understand. I just… I thought since they weren’t here, we co- we could-”
“Yes,” interrupted Mahrias. “We’d like that.”
Sahrav sighed in relief, his shoulders finally releasing the tension he’d been holding. “So, did you two have any plans?”
“Not yet!” said Viter, grabbing onto Sahrav’s arm. “Do you have any ideas?”
“Ah, I’m not… uh…” he looked over at Mahrias, “I’m not good at the whole fun thing.”
Mahrias grinned at him. “Luckily for you, I am.”
And that was how half an hour later, the three of them were stood in Rujav’s previously locked office.
Sahrav was near the door, his eyes flicking over to it nervously, whilst Viter was looking at the pictures on the wall. Mahrias was currently rummaging through Rujav’s desk, pointing out the things that he found interesting.
“Third sock!” he exclaimed, pulling out a blue woolly sock. “Why does he have so many socks in his desk? Is he collecting them?” He gasped and looked over at Sahrav. “Do you think this is where my missing ones keep going?”
“Father isn’t stealing your socks!” Sahrav hissed. “Please can we get out of here? We’re going to get caught.”
“How? Mother and Father are both on a ship in the middle of the sea. Do you really think Father’s going to throw himself overboard, swim all the way back here, and catch us in his office?”
Viter looked over at him. “Maybe that’s what the sock does. You’ve summoned him by touching it.”
Mahrias grimaced and threw the sock back into the drawer in mock horror. He closed it and opened the one beneath it, his eyes widening.
“Sahrav! Look!”
His brother looked over as he pulled out a stack of letters and started to read them.
“What are you doing?” he said, rushing over to him. “You can’t read Father’s personal letters!”
Mahrias jumped away from him, dropping a couple of the letters. “I can do as I please! You can’t pretend that you’re not interested in what they say.”
“I’m not,” he replied, “I wouldn’t like someone to read my personal things.”
“Not even if they were about you?”
This stopped him. “What are you talking about?”
Mahrias excessively cleared his throat, making a big show about it, before reading from one of the letters in his hand. “Your son Sahrav sounds like a fine man and his Value is extremely impress-”
“Oh no,” groaned Sahrav, “Who is it from?”
Mahrias scanned down to the bottom of the page. “Uh… Tilda Kahta.”
Sahrav threw his head back in relief. “Oh, thank the gods. At least I know I’m safe from her daughter.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Marriage. Father is… making progress.”
Mahrias frowned. “Isn’t that a good thing?”
“Are you looking forward to marrying a stranger?”
“Sure. If it gets me out of here.” He turned away and started to read the other letters.
Sahrav didn’t know his brother well, but he knew that was a sign that he didn’t want to talk about it anymore. Which was fine, because neither did he.
Filled with a sense of rebellion, he grabbed a handful of the letters and started reading them himself. He tried to ignore the smirk on Mahrias’s face but couldn’t help smiling as he saw it in the corner of his eye.
#i love it when Sahrav does things he's not supposed to lol#wip: blue blood#oc: sahrav kontemno#oc: mahrias kontemno#oc: viter kontemno#wip: bb2

Happy blorbo blursday! Oc of your choice--what is their ideal breakfast? Are they a pampered, breakfast in bed person? Fancy mimosa brunch? Cooking it themselves?
Thanks for the ask!
As they're growing up, the three Kontemno brothers eat breakfast together, most of the time. It's the only meal that they make themselves and it was their time of peace before they started lessons for the day.
Sahrav likes cinnamon tea and plain, dry toast. He's had it every day ever since he was a young kid and refuses to have anything else.
Mahrias mixes it up, depending on his mood. One of his favourites is porridge and it's one of his comfort foods for when he's feeling especially low. He usually adds dried fruit or jam to it.
Viter likes "pancake volcanoes" where he takes a stack of pancakes and cuts a hole from the centre, filling it with whatever flavour syrup he's obsessed with that week.

Sahrav Kontemno
Name: Sahrav Kontemno Pronouns: He / Him Species: Gishar Island: Elohia [iceblood]
-----
“Well... Father is not always right. You know that better than I do.”
-----
Over the years, Sahrav has learned to put his dreams to the side in order to fulfil his duty. But this is made harder by an unexpected meeting with Eirani.
A travelling Safoh, she has the ability to manipulate the world around her, much like a character from one of Sahrav’s stories. She’s also the first outside his family to treat him as an equal, rather than an idol. Something he finds he likes…. a lot.
He knows what the consequences of a relationship with Eirani would be but for the first the time in his life, Sahrav is willing to take the risk. Things become more complicated when Viter discovers his secret, putting the already paranoid heir on edge even more than usual.
Eventually he has no choice but to try and be who he is supposed to be, following the rules and traditions of his new life as best he can. But deep inside, he cannot forget Eirani and the true love he has for her.
He’s also unable to forget the threat that Viter poses to his life, knowing that one slip-up could result in his secrets getting out.

Blue Blood: Perfection
Sahrav picked up a worn notebook off the table and flipped to the next blank page. He wrote the name of the book at the top, followed by the author. Then, as he had done for everything he read, he wrote down his thoughts on it, as well as patterns he had noticed connecting to other books.
There were many things he liked to note, such as when books shared the same world and had cameos of previous main characters. Or when the author would use specific tropes or cliches. That was his favourite. He liked things that were predictable.
It took him a while to finish, but as always his writing was perfectly neat and straight. Everything was formatted to be exactly as it was for all the previous entries.
Perfect.
Or not. He groaned as he realised that he’d spelled something wrong. Annoyed with himself, he tore the page out with a little more force than necessary. It didn’t tear properly, leaving small scraps in the inner spine. Sahrav shuddered and looked away from them, crumpling up the torn page into a ball.
He almost threw it out of anger, but knew he’d have to go and pick it up again, so instead he chucked it into the fire. His mistake sizzled and crumpled in on itself, turning black, before it disintegrated into ash.
Sahrav then spent the next ten minutes slowly picking off the remaining scraps of paper, grimacing as he did so. Most people wouldn’t have bothered, but he couldn’t stand looking at them. It was hard to explain what it was that he didn’t like. It just made his bones feel like they were being scratched.
There were a few things that did that to him. Certain sounds or feelings would just set off this intense discomfort that he could never quite explain. He often wondered if it was an anxiety thing, something he definitely struggled with.
He’d be a mess if he didn’t have Selma, who seemed to understand Sahrav even when he himself didn’t. She would somehow always know what to do when he was feeling certain ways, or even be able to predict things ahead of time. That was another reason why Sahrav liked her.
She was easily his best friend and he was still grateful that she’d agreed to be his Nivada. It made life a lot easier for him to navigate, especially when it came to the social situations that he dreaded so much.
He sighed and dropped the notebook back on the table, as he threw the handful of paper scraps into the fire. Not for the first time that day, he wondered how someone like him was expected to rule an entire island.

Hi~! Happy STS!
This week I'm continuing my quest to get to know people's OCs better!
If you had to pick an OC to represent each of the seven deadly sins, which OC would represent each, and why?
(from @tisiphonewolfe)
Thanks for the ask!
PRIDE - I think I'd have to say Rujav Kontemno. His number one priority is the reputation of himself and his family name, especially after the murky condition his father left it in. He'll do whatever he needs to in order to keep people thinking he's the "perfect" ruler.
GREED - Dahsira Solark. All she wants is power and she'd do anything to get it, squashing anyone who stands in her way. The problem is that it's never enough, the more she gets, the more she wants.
WRATH - Einjal Daju. He's remembered as a cruel person for a reason, and he's done some truly terrible things as a result of his rage. Ripping Hanasha's arm off was one of the least bad things he did.
ENVY - Mahrias Kontemno, for sure. He's extremely envious of Sahrav and this affects a lot of the major decisions he makes throughout his life, even if he won't always admit it.
GLUTTONY - The more I think about it, the more I think this should be Osin Solark. He heavily indulges in luxury - food, smoking, drink, sex, material goods, etc. He justifies this by saying he earned it after helping put an end to the war, but he's not the only who had a hand in that, so it's kind of a bad excuse.
SLOTH - Evah Kontemno. She is fully checked out of her family and doesn't take responsibility for anything that goes on with her children. She never gets involved in anything that Rujav does, even when she disagrees with him.
LUST - This one was probably the hardest. I think I'd probably say Matti Falen, who is Dahsira's Nivada. I don't think he truly loves her, more that he lusts over her and the power he'd get if he could have her in the way that he wants.

19% How does your character's living space reflect their personality (iirc) for any OC of your choosing!
Thank you for the ask!
Each of the Kontemno brothers has their own room and they're all very different.
Sahrav's is perfectly neat, with nothing out of place. Even the books piled on his bedside table are perfectly aligned. He has a lot of anxiety and he likes things to be certain, and one way of doing that is making sure everything has its own place in his room.
Mahrias's is messier, as he views it as an act of rebellion by not having things neat. The walls and his bedframe both have gouges in them from when he's practised with his sword in there, which he's not supposed to do.
Viter spends a lot of time in his bedroom, especially when he's having a flare up. So his room is the messiest of the three because it kind of turns into a "nest" for him. There's usually blankets everywhere, books scattered, empty cups. He likes to only focus on what is interesting to him in that moment and cleaning is never high on his priorities.
